Gabon will take part in Refugee Solidarity Summit in Kampala on 22 June


The president of the Republic, Ali Bongo Ondimba, will go the next June 22nd and 23rd to Kampala in  Uganda where he will take in particular part in a top devoted to solidarity with the refugees.

For this purpose, the Head of the State received on June 19th in Libreville, the Ugandan Minister for Tourism, Fauna and Antiquities, Ephraïm Kamuntu (photo), carrying an invitation of president Yoweri Museveni.

The objective of this Summit is of raising funds to height of 2 billion dollars which will be used to finance the year 2018, but also to promote the Ugandan model. Because, Uganda is the first country host of refugees in Africa. It shelters 1.2 million people, including more than 900,000 SouthSudaneses.

Co-organized with the UN organization, in particular the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, the Kampala summit should lead to immediate and lasting solutions to support the refugee reception policy.

Gabon for its part has accommodated for several decades of the refugees resulting from the conflicts which struck the African continent,which the minister Ephraïm Kamuntu did not fail to greet.
